Your Earthing Shoe Choices

Options For Earthing Shoes

Earthing ShoesIf you’re looking for Earthing shoes, you’ve come to the right place.  You’ll find out what your choices are and how they work on this page.

Up until recently, it was relatively easy to find the Official Earthing shoes, which were flip flops, often referred to as Grounders.  As you’re reading this, Grounders are no longer being manufactured, and are no longer available, for the most part.  If there are any left at all you’ll find them at the Longevity Warehouse.

LUCKILY, there are some other companies making Earthing shoes, and you’re about to learn about those.

The New Earthing Shoes

Soft Star Shoes makes SOME shoes that work good as Earthing shoes, and they even have some designs for babies and kids on their site.  Not ALL of their shoes will ground you, so make sure to have a look at the names of the shoes that WILL ground you, listed below.  DON’T order any of the shoes listed below with the GRIPPY Sole.  The GRIPPY Sole is NOT conductive, and shoes with the Grippy Sole WON’T work as Earthing shoes.

The Viley in Navy or Caramel with the LEATHER Sole.
The Dash RunAmoc in Chocolate with the LEATHER Sole.
The Suede Roo in Honey or Chocolate with the LEATHER Sole.

To see all of the Soft Star Shoes that work as Grounding shoes, Click Here, then type Earthing into the Search Bar at the top of their website.

Soft Star Shoes are not technically Earthing shoes, but the styles listed above have leather soles, which become more conductive as you wear them.

It is the MOISTURE created from your feet perspiring that make the leather soles become more conductive.  Minerals in the perspiration from your feet also build up in the leather over time, making the soles even more conductive.

Pluggz is the brand name of the Earthing shoes that LOOK most like the Originals and they have some styles the Originals didn’t come in as well.  UNFORTUNATELY I Can’t recommend PLUGGS at this time, as I don’t have sufficient evidence that they actually work.  I’m NOT saying they DON’T work, but before I endorse them, I want to be SURE they do.

The Flip Flops from Pluggz use the same design as the Original Grounders did.  They have a conductive plug made from carbon and rubber that extends through the the sole of the shoe, and makes contact with your foot on the inside of the shoe and the ground below it.

For men, the Flip Flop style Earthing shoe is the only option available from Pluggz at this time, but women have 2 more options; The Mary Janes and the Gaia Ballet Flats.  Both of these options are made from combinations of suede and leather and have rubber soles that are slip resistant.

The Mary Janes and the Gaia Ballet Flats have the same type of conductive plugs as the Flip Flops have.  The plugs sit under a weight bearing part of your feet to ensure proper contact with them.

To be grounded wearing your Pluggz Earthing Shoes, or any other Grounding Shoes, you’ll need to be standing, or walking, on a surface that conducts the Earth’s energy.  Dirt, grass, sand and even concrete are surfaces that you can be grounded on while wearing your Earthing shoes or wearing no shoes.  Asphalt is not conductive and WON’T ground you.

Hopefully Pluggz Earthing Shoes really work and hold up nicely.  If anyone has tested them, please let me know or post in the comments below.

  • Andrea ,

Pluggz do work. I’ve used them for 2-3 years. I have 5 or 6 pairs. I can only tell you that I can feel when I’m not grounded. With Pluggz I don’t get that build up of energy in my feet.

  • Kailasa Ishaya ,

You can look on Wikipedia and see that (at best) carbon is about 100 times LESS conductive than say aluminum.
Therefore, I don’t think that a shoe made with a carbon AND RUBBER grounding core with be very good at what it is supposed to do.

      Hi Kailasa,

You are right in your thinking that aluminum is generally more conductive than carbon but I’m not sure where you got your figure of 100 times. That being said, carbon fiber is very conductive and does a fine job of conducting electricity and grounding a person. If you have any doubts, I suggest you have a look at this article I’m linking to. I think you’ll find it interesting. If you disagree I’m happy to hear why, but I think you’ll find this information pretty helpful.

Considering everything I’ve written above, I still think it’s best to be grounded barefoot, but if you want to go all the way and be grounded as much of the time as possible, a grounding shoe can keep you grounded more of the time, provided you’re standing on the earth, grass, or something that connects you to the earth while you’re wearing the grounding shoes.

It’s also important to consider that if you’re going to be using a shoe for grounding that the design is correct or you may not be getting the benefit of grounding from it. Carbon is conductive enough to ground you though.

      • Kailasa Ishaya ,

Thanks for that link Sy. Nanofibers are pretty new to me. I don’t know much about them. But the tests certainly show that carbon, when made in a special way, can out-conduct previously ‘better’ metals!
